How Can I Get More Bookkeeping Clients

I have opened up a business as a sole trader I have the ABN, Registered the business name, set up a website, facebook page, business cards, price list, set up an office and i bought the latest version of MYOB ect.

I have completed Cert 4 in bookkeeping and now I am am studying a diploma of Accounting, I have applied to be a BAS agent though my previous job working for an accounting firm I have done the 1000 hours I need to register.

I have set up this business as a side business at night and on the weekends until i get enough clients that i can leave my job and work from home.

My problem is that I only have one client so far and I have not started doing work for her yet.

How can I get more clients I dont have years and years of experience which is the down side, I have sent out a letter to 25 local businesses around my area 2 weeks ago and I’m going to do another letter run.

Can you help me in anyway? Thanks for your time

Megan

Free Consultation To Find Bookkeeping Clients

Should you offer a free consultation to find bookkeeping clients?

Some people say “YES” – and we say “No”

Mark emailed us to say : ” I disagree in some respects to your comments regarding a ‘free consultation’. If I’m prepared to offer only the initial hour of my time free of charge to secure a long term client, I consider that this is cheap advertising? The prospective client has nothing to lose and I get my ‘foot in the door’ to sell myself and my services. People only need a plumber once every 10 years. They need a bookkeeper every 3 months (or less). There’s a huge difference.

Of course the client has nothing to lose and everything to gain – and if it takes you an hour to get yor foot in the door, you’re probably doing something wrong – it takes us just five minutes (or less) on the phone

In our experience, giving a free consultation has not helped grow our business – there’s always people out there that want something for nothing – so it’s upto you how much / what you cover in that hour

We speak to new clients every day on the phone, converting around 80% of them, without offering our services for free – the remaining 20% just want the cheapest – or worse still find family/friend to “help them with their books”

The beauty about running your own bookkeeping business is just that – it’s your own bookkeeping business, so you call the shots !!!

Steps To Finding Bookkeeping Clients

Looking for bookkeeping clientsFinding clients is really not hard – There’s a heap right under your nose – if you look in the right place

By doing what 95% of bookkeepers do, you’ll get the same result that 95% of bookkeepers get

Often it’s not necessarily what you do, but how you do it. For instance. nobody likes “Cold Calling”, and very few businesses like being “cold-called”.

Let me ask how you respond to telemarketers and door-to-door salespeople? Most times they get a negative response because they’ve put the prospect on the back foot straight away

Imagine an icecream vendor down the beach on a cold wintery wet day – compared to the same vendor on a hot summer day – same vendor, same beach, different circumstances

Have a look at what you’re doing, and think about how you’d be if you were at the receiving end of your campaign.

Write a list of people that you know – EVERYONE. But do not SAY ANYTHING to anyone YET.

Write a list of all your bookkeeping skills, But do not SAY ANYTHING to anyone YET.

Write a five year plan – and an exit strategy for your business – Exit strategy? But you haven’t started yet!

Exactly

These are some of the steps towards building a profitable and secure bookkeeping business. After continual pressure from bookkeepers that we’ve sourced bookkeeping clients for, we’ve developed a program to coach and and guide you through the minefield of building your bookkeeping business.

We offer one-on-one consultations for bookkeepers who are struggling to solve problems, or overcome challenges in sourcing bookkeeping clients. You can learn more about the program by following this link

Not Every Bookkeeping Client is A Keeper

When you’re just starting out in your bookkeeping business, it’s tempting to take on every client that comes your way, even though not EVERY client is going to be a keeper.

There’s plenty of it out there in your area and it may seem strange to believe, but you CAN AFFORD to be choosy about which clients to work with.

A temptation for bookkeepers starting our in their home business is to charge themselves out at a cheap rate “just to get started”

That’s all very well, but isn’t that theft?

Why is it theft? Well, you have certain skills and over a level of service that is worthy of renumeration. You are sacrificing time away from your family, or from other things that you may be doing, and seeling yourself short. You’re allowing your clients to steal valuable resources from you.

Just remember, when you are the owner of your home based bookkeeping business, not every bookkeeping client that comes along is a keeper

How To Find Bookkeeping Clients Quickly

Just got off the phone from a bookkeeper who thinks that he wants help finding bookkeeping clients

Have you read our FREE REPORT “Secrets To Finding Bookkeeping Clients In TEN DAYS or less ?

Oh, yes, we’ve read that and done everything in it, but it hasn’t worked!

Really? If that was the case, then perhaps the WAY that you’ve done everything has made a difference to the results that you’ve achieved.

It would be great to have all the secrets revealed in depth and to give those secrets away to everyone. Whilst we could do that, we’d have no income to feed the kids, and keep a roof over our heads.

The free report is just an appetiser of what’s to come. It’s to help people to get started.

This particular bookkeeper went on to say that he’s doing everything that he can be doing and not getting the results. And that there’s nothing new in the book

So you don’t need our help then?

Well, yes, because we need to find bookkeeping clients.

So do you think that perhaps we do have some secrets that we can reveal to you when you join our program?

As you build your bookkeeping business, you’ll come across clients that think they know everything, and just don’t appreciate / want your help.

The best way to handle them is to shake them off, and move on. You’ll come across clients that WANT and NEED your help, and they’ll appreciate what you have to offer

We recently worked with an expereinced accountant wanting to start his own bookkeeping business in his home town 2000kms away from us. Within ten days we found him clients under his nose using the same techniques that we’d showed him how to use – clients that nhe’d been unable to find for himself

What we we doing that he could not do?
He knew best and wanted to follow our techniques using his methodology

If you change the recipe, you’ll change the results

Bookkeeping Business – How Serious Are You?

You’ve started your bookkeeping business, and you’re struggling to find bookkeeping clients.

I Just Want Bookkeeping clients

“Please help me, I just want some bookeeping clients” – is a common theme to emails we receive from bookkeepers, whether they’ve been in business for a while, or just starting out.

Bookkeeping Business - How Serious Are You?We were working with Kirsty for a while, helping her get her bookkeeping business started.

One of the biggest challenges she had was her perception of her business.

No matter how hard we tried to explain to her, or show her about the foundations of her business, she was stuck in a mind-set that was stopping her from gaining bookkeeping clients.

If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re probably right!
This works for many aspects of your life. Once you make a decision to do something, and you’re really serious about doing it, stopping you can be pretty hard – right?

So if you are having challenges finding bookkeeping clients, then maybe you need to have another look at yourself, and what you are doing.

Debi has been bookkeeping for many years, and approached us for help in finding bookkeeping clients. She’s been advertising in the local paper and getting no results.

We found her three clients in a week, and shown her ways to increase her income. Is she happy? Of course she is – and is looking at her bookkeeping business in a whole new light.

You want to know how we helped Debi find three new bookkeeping clients in a week? We helped her by using principles discussed in our Ebook
Finding Bookkeeping Clients We offer a 100% money back guarantee, so if you believe that there’s no information in the book that you can use, then send us an email with your account details, and we’ll send you a refund.

“But I don’t want to buy another book, I just want some bookkeeping clients!” Yes, we know, you’re thinking “They just want to make money out of me by selling a book!” . What if, just by some fluke of chance, you picked up a tiny piece of information in that book that led you to finding a new client? What if that client started out being only a couple of hours a week?

What if that client was expanding their organisation, and ten years later you were stilll working with that client you’d earned in excess of $200,000 from that one initial appointment?

Nahhhh ! Never happens!! Well it has happened, we still have that client (amongst many others).

So if you’re reading this because you need help finding book – keeping clients, then order your copy our Ebook “Secrets To Finding Bookkeeping Clients”

Bookkeeping Clients: Who Needs Them!

Every freelance independant bookkeeper needs bookkeeping clients!

It’s always interesting meeting a small business owner who’s just decided to take the plunge and outsource their bookkeeping.

When it comes to having a handle on their finances, many small business owners just don’t know what they don’t know!!

By that, they just have no idea about having a system for their bookkeeping or getting their finances in order. It’s amazing how some businesses survive in such a state of disorder

That’s where you come in. As bookkeepers we can help the client by making suggestions to improve or even establish a bookkeeping system.

The first step may be something as straightforward as suggesting that they should consider opening a seperate bank account for their business rather than using their personal bank account.

You may need to set them up with a simple system of manila folders for bank statements unpaid / paid bills etc

There’s some clients that seem to take years to grasp the fact that by them spending a couple of extra minutes on completing their documentation correctly before they file it, they’ll end up saving so much money on bookkeeping fees.

When they final realise that you’ve been working to save them money, they’ll thank you (perhaps with a sheepish grin)!

It’s moments like that when your bookkeeping clients understand that they that need you more than you need them!
